8 Years - 9/19/1999

Jenny and I were just talking and realized that we had been together for 8 years in October.  That also means that it has been almost 8 years since Hadler was killed.  It's amazing how something that happened that long ago can still affect you today.  I'm still bummed about the lack of Memorial at Cedarville.  Jenny and I are going to be leaving Florida on September 28 and be moving to Iowa, Lord willing.  We are planning to be in Cedarville for NCC's.  Hopefully, the mile marker will at least be a visible reminder of Hadler.  If you knew him please just send up a prayer for his family on the 19th.  Are we running the open at NCCs?

Little Over a Week

Last Saturday morning I ran 17.28 miles.  It felt surprisingly good.  That is the farthest that I have run since 2001, which was the full marathon.  I got to 17 miles and was excited that I would only have 9 miles left.  It took me 2:06.26.  That would put me just under 3:10, which is acceptable to me, maybe not others. . .

Bad News?

I got a hot tip about a person that the Sickhouse knows that ran a 3:11 marathon.  Who is it?  The Columbus Marathon was the race, do a search for Cedarville and you will find the answer.  Unfortunately, this has put a whole new standard about the time that we must run.  Butt Welder - It's what I'm going to need when it gets kicked by the Disney Marathon.

A Little Long? - - UPDATED

The results are in. . . The half marathon went pretty well.  It was a beautiful morning for a run, maybe a little chilly at first.  I was 31:01 through five miles and 50:23 through eight miles.  The slow down began there.  I think that anyone would tell you that the course was about 16 seconds long (even though the course is USATF certified).  Since the results might not be posted yet you may have guessed that I ran an official time of 1:25.06.  I think I placed eighth and won my age group, that is no consolation from losing to the Dogg.  My spouse ran wonderfully and ran roughly 1:45.30.  Disney here we come!

Progress?

Marathon training going pretty well, I suppose.  Plaatje and I ran a 5k this morning, he smoked me.  RESULTS In my defense I haven't run this fast in 3 years, for whatever reason.   Michigan beat Iowa, which should cause a war in our house, but I was actually hoping that Michigan would win.  Unfortunately, ABC thought that we wanted to watch Boston College beat Florida State, I don't think that anybody wanted to watch that game.  I would love to see the Michigan v. OSU be the first installment of the National Championship.  Then a rematch for the real deal.  I guess we will see if that works out.
